It can be difficult to know what you want to do with your career, especially when there are so many options available and with multiple passions, it is an overwhelming choice of investment. Sometimes it feels like everyone else knows what they want to do, while you are still trying to figure it out. However, it is important to remember that everyone takes their own time to find their path in life. Here are a few pieces of advice from our recruiters that may help you as you search for your career...
What advice can be given to someone who is struggling to find their career path?
GAYARA:
“Trying to find the right role can be overwhelming and tough to decipher what you want to do with the rest of your life. There are many ways to help you find the right role but creating a pros and cons list for each option you're considering is an effective way. If you're unsure of what you want to do, making a list for each potential role will help narrow down your choices by seeing what you're looking for. This will take some time, but it'll be worth it in the long run when you find something that works best for you. Additionally, keep in mind your ultimate goal and work towards it, passion-wise and financially. It's important to have a stable job that can help support you, so factor in determining which route to take. Taking the time to figure out what works best for you will be beneficial when landing your perfect role.”
MOLLY:
“If you are struggling to find your career path, it is important to take a step back and think about what you truly enjoy doing. In many cases, our passions and strengths can align very well with particular areas of the job market, so it is worth researching different industries to see which ones best fit your skills and interests. Also, networking with others in your chosen industry can help you find out more about what qualities and skills are valued within that field.
Ultimately, my advice would be to connect what you enjoy doing with what you are good at and utilize your skills. With the right focus and determination, anyone can carve out a successful career path on their terms. So don't give up - keep striving for your goals and never be afraid to take risks!”.
CAROLINE:
“If you are unsure of what you want to do, it might be time to consider trying some temp or contract work. This is an excellent way to explore different fields and better understand what interests you the most. Plus, temp and contract jobs often come with the potential to turn into a full-time role, allowing you to build your professional experience and stability. So, whether you want to try out a new industry or explore the roles that best suit your skills and interests, temp and contract work can help you find your true calling. There's no limit to what you can achieve with the right attitude and a willingness to learn!”
EMMA:
“If you're struggling to figure out your career path, my best advice is to take a step back and reflect on your past experiences. What were the roles that you enjoyed the most? Is there a reason why you decided to move on to something else? Sometimes, the answer lies in looking back at your previous roles. If you can identify what it is that you loved about those roles, you may be able to find a path forward that incorporates those elements. If there were aspects of those roles that you didn't enjoy, you can use that information to eliminate certain options and move closer to finding a career that's a good fit for you. In either case, reflecting on your past experiences can give you valuable insights into what you should be pursuing in the future”.
