Job description

Role: 
This Risk and Compliance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring this Underwriting group adheres to legal requirements within the insurance industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk and compliance frameworks: Design and manage comprehensive programs to ensure all business operations adhere to regulatory and industry standards.
  • Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures: Regularly create and refine policies to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and business practices.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulatory developments, ensuring the company’s practices remain compliant with current laws.
  • Conduct internal reviews and risk assessments: Regularly assess company processes to identify potential compliance risks and recommend improvements.
  • Provide compliance training and support across the organization: Deliver training programs to educate employees on compliance requirements and promote a culture of ethical behavior.
  • Investigate compliance incidents and implement corrective actions: Lead investigations into compliance breaches, identify root causes, and work with teams to prevent future incidents.
Experience required: 
    • Completion of General Insurance Code of Practice course within the last 6 months.
    • Diploma of Financial Services, Risk & Compliance
    • Strong knowledge of ASIC RG271 and RG78.
    • At least 3 years of experience in a compliance role within the insurance or financial services industry.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Experience with AFCA complaints and processes.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
